A few pics from the trip as well. Some repeats, but who cares.
And that’s a wrap! A few last closing thoughts and comments on my 2012 Spring trip to Hatteras.
As most trips end in Hatteras. It is usually a very early morning and long drive home. It was no different this time around however. Not only did my group play cat and mouse throughout most of the drive I was astonished at the pure number of fellow Windsurfers both heading presumably to Hatteras and leaving the wonderfully amazing place. All the way home I saw folks, and not just the same cars time and again. I ran into 3 cars at the border crossing that I hadn’t seen all day. Everyone had smiling faces! Amazing. Our sport definitely is not dying!
My trip home was a little more exciting than normal. I offered to pick up a sail for friend on the way out of Hatteras. When I realized who I was picking the sail up from I was somewhat excited to meet the seller. He was Bill Bell, and I have followed his blog (OBXBeachlife) for quite sometime. He also is the organizer of the Hatteras Wave Jam and heavily involved with the American Wave Tour that ended up being cancelled last year.
Anyway, we had a good chat about the killer session on Thursday at Ramp30 which I missed because I was to busy trying to figure out how to sail and not hurt myself sound side.
Oh and by the time I got to Ellicotville I was pretty bored and needed a break so I stopped in at the pub had dinner and a few pints, it broke the trip up nicely.
A few pics of the crazy session on Thursday, compliments of Mr. Grant.
P.s. The face is doing better for those who saw it up close and personal. Swelling is coming down on the side of my face, however swelling and bruising has gotten worse on my eye. Yup, I look like got into a good ole brawl at the bar and hit in the face with a beer bottle.

Gear: 5.3 & 5.9, 106 & 90
Wind: 18 – 22 NE
Conditions: Warm and sunny
Water Time: 3.5 hours
Water Time YTD: 34.5 hours
# of Sailing Days: 13
Surprise, surprise…Did not expect to sail today. However, almost exactly as the weatherman predicted yesterday a front came through and we saw about 4 hours of strong NNE wind. We were on the water by 10 and called it a day by 2. Miller time! What a great way to end the week.
I am actually glad it wasnèt anything crazy or long lasting. My arms and legs are done. No strength in them at all, and not to mention my face still hurts a lot from the yesterdays session.
We are all packed up and ready to head home tomorrow. It was one of the best trips yet having good sessions each and every day. I love it here but cant wait to get home to see Lindsay and the kids.
